All our studies remove any sensitive information (e.g. names, emails, addresses) when collecting the data. No personal information is shared to external partners and we keep everything password protected. All participants are assigned a number that is used when collecting, tracking, and analyzing the data.
Participants generally get to keep any products they test*, unless otherwise specified before the study begins. All products sent to you to test, including the SleepScore Max device**, are yours to keep after the study ends. The products will be sent to you free of charge and if something does need to be returned as part of the study, packaging and necessary postage will be provided.
*Occasionally a product is not yet available to consumers and therefore must be returned
**SleepScore Max devices are only sent to participants who do not already own a SleepScore Max device
Most existing sleep research is done in a laboratory rather than in the home. By conducting this research, we can better show the impact that products have on sleep within a person’s natural sleep environment. With this information, consumers and companies alike will have a more accurate understanding of what products really work.

The requirements for participation vary from study to study. We take the information provided in the pre-eligibility survey to help determine which studies seem like a good fit for you, then we send you a longer survey to see if you fully qualify. Currently we only run studies in the continental United States with participants who have no clinical sleep disorders, don’t take sleep medication, and are otherwise healthy. If you do not qualify, but are interested in enrolling in sleep studies to help progress the science of clinical sleep disorders, you might check your nearby hospital, sleep center, or university
We are happy to hear that you are interested in joining us to understand and improve sleep for all! Please fill out our eligibility questionnaire and be considered for all future studies. By doing so and by consistently tracking your sleep with SleepScore products like the SleepScore Max device, you will be considered part of our research community. If a study seems like a good fit for you, we will contact you to confirm your eligibility.
A sleep study entails participants from across the continental U.S. track their sleep using the SleepScore Max device. The participants track their sleep with and without a sleep product. We do this to determine how effective a sleep product is at improving sleep.
